There is no single published angle or formula that defines the perfect bike fit for every rider. Roth uses published work to inform clearly matched observations, keeps its own product rules labeled as product rules, and does not treat either as proof of an individual outcome.

01EVIDENCE LAYERS

Published research, Roth policy, and rider outcomes are different things

Published research can support a measurement convention or a comparison in a defined group. Roth product policy decides how the service handles uncertainty and what it will or will not suggest. Rider outcomes describe what happened after a specific rider tried a specific change. One layer does not prove the others.

02MEASUREMENT MATCH

Similarly named angles are not automatically interchangeable

A knee angle measured while the rider is still is not the same observation as a knee angle measured while pedaling. Pedal-bottom and greatest-extension moments can also differ. Camera position, landmark definitions, equipment, and the statistic used across a pedal cycle all affect the number.

Roth only connects a published comparison to a reported value when those details match closely enough to say what is being compared. Otherwise the source remains background, not a target.

03CURRENT LIMITS

The public record should say when evidence is missing

Roth has not established that its service improves cycling performance, prevents injury, diagnoses a condition, or guarantees comfort. Published outcomes from another fitting method or rider group do not prove a Roth outcome.

The current responsible use is narrower: collect a repeatable view, explain what can be observed, propose only a supported and reversible next step, and stop when the video, bike, or rider question needs in-person judgment.

A source link is not a badge of certainty. The useful part is the exact claim, method, population, and limitation that travel with it.
