Method and limitations

A clear result before an adjustment.

The Roth method takes one careful step at a time: set up the camera, compare two recordings, explain any uncertainty, try one change you can undo, and learn from real rides.

01OBSERVE

Get a clear recording before drawing conclusions.

The phone lens, height, distance, angle, lighting, pedaling pace, clothing, and blocked views can all change what a flat video appears to show. Roth treats those details as an important part of the recording.

Roth checks the room and phone position before using a recording. If something is wrong, you get one clear correction or the process stops. Unclear video should never produce a confident-looking answer.

  • You and both wheels remain visible
  • The phone stays straight and steady
  • The main phone lens, lighting, pedaling pace, and framing pass the setup check
  • The front recording is treated as a flat view that cannot show depth
02REPEAT

Compare two recordings of the same setup.

Rider movement and phone placement can change what one video appears to show. Roth asks you to record one side view twice without moving the phone or changing the bike, followed by a front view.

This comparison is a quality check, not a score for you. If the repeated side recordings do not agree, Roth asks you to record again or stops before giving precise guidance.

Roth publishes performance claims only after real-world testing and qualified review.

03DECIDE

Show what was noticed, how certain it is, and what comes next.

Roth first checks whether the video is clear enough. Next, it checks whether two recordings of the same setup agree. Only then does it consider whether one small, mechanically possible change makes sense.

A simple answer should never hide uncertainty. You should see what Roth noticed, why one change comes first, what could make the result unreliable, and who to contact if the online process stops.

04CHANGE

Make one reversible change with a clear way back.

Roth gives one suggested adjustment at a time. Each change keeps your starting setup, how you measured it, the proposed amount, the tools you need, important manufacturer warnings, and instructions for going back.

You will record what you actually changed instead of the app assuming it happened. If the change cannot be made within your bike’s limits, the right next step is help from a mechanic or fitter.

05VERIFY

Check the outcome indoors and across real rides.

An indoor recheck confirms that the new position can still be seen clearly. Short, medium, and normal rides then show what happens as time, terrain, and fatigue enter the picture.

After one change, the next step may be to keep it, adjust it, return to your starting setup, stop, or get help. Each completed change becomes a checkpoint, not the end of the fit.

  • Worsening pain, numbness, weakness, or loss of control stops the process
  • You can return to your starting setup at any point
  • Your history remains available after paid access ends
  • Your report keeps the method and guidance version that created it
