Why camera height and lens choice matter in bike-fit video

A flat video depends on where the phone is placed

A phone that is too high, low, angled, or close can change how your joints and bike appear to line up. That is not a rider mistake; one flat view cannot show depth perfectly.

Use the main phone lens from a useful distance

Ultra-wide lenses make small rooms easier to fit in the frame, but they can stretch the edges of the picture. Digital zoom can remove useful detail. The main phone lens from farther away gives you a more consistent starting point.

• Use the same lens for both side recordings
• Keep yourself near the center of the frame
• Do not move the phone between the first and repeat side recordings
• Save the phone position for follow-up recordings

Keep the phone level and straight beside the bike

The phone should be level and aimed straight at the rider rather than from ahead or behind. Live guidance can help, but Roth should stop if the phone cannot stay in the required position.

A clear-looking video is not automatically reliable. The phone setup and second matching recording still need separate checks.
